WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Bowie State University volleyball team (0-4) had a tough time getting on track on the final day of the West Chester University Ram Fest. The Bulldogs lost the opening match of day two to host West Chester, falling in straight sets by scores of 5-25, 7-25 and 9-25. Bowie State played probably their best match of the event against Salem International, posting scores of 16-25, 23-25 and 11-25 to close out the weekend.
Over the two matches, freshmen
Oladia Menchaca (Landover, Md.) and
Caitland Okorafor (Hyattsville, Md.) led the Bulldogs with 23 and 21 attacks respectively. Menchaca also led Bowie State with four total service aces while freshman
Kilana Jenkins (Bridgeport, Conn.) was the teams' top defender with 10 digs.
Junior Brittiany Houck (Burns, Ore.) and Okorafor paced the Bulldogs with six and five kills respectively in the setbacks.

Courtney Crawford (Lanham, Md.), Okorafor and Jenkins added one kill apiece.
As a team, Bowie State ended the match with an attack percentage of minus .151 compared to .642 for the Golden Rams. Karleigh Lutz and Rachel Robb combined for 16 of West Chester's total 36 kills on a combined 26 of the Golden Rams' 53 attacks in the sweep.

Tia Williams (Abingdon, Md.) along with Okorafor tallied four kills each in the match versus Salem International. Houck recorded three kills in the match with Jenkins adding two kills to the stat sheet.
Menchaca led the Bulldogs with seven assists against Salem International's Tigers to go along with four digs.
The Tigers were led by Rachel Hess with a dozen kills on 22 attacks to go along with three service aces and three digs. Sophie Freihofer and Alessandra Marquez were responsible for seven and six kills respectively for Salem International. Freihofer picked up a match-high nine digs in the win over Bowie State.
The Bulldogs will look to earn their first victory of the season on Wednesday (September 13) at Kutztown in a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
