MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Bowie State Bulldogs (0-10, 0-5 CIAAA) volleyball team had a tough time on the road at Chowan on Sunday afternoon, losing in straight sets by scores of 25-9, 25-16 and 25-9.
As a team, the Bulldogs tallied just 38 total attacks and had seven total kills over the three sets. Seniors
Kiana Moore (Newark, Del.) and
Tia Williams (Abingdon, Md.) along with freshman
Caitland Okorafor (Hyattsville, Md.) accounted for two kills each. Williams also recorded a team-high 11 attacks to go along with one solo block.
Freshman
Bianca Tucker (Edgewood, Md.) was responsible for one kill and added four digs while fellow freshman
Oladia Menchaca (Landover, Md.) contributed six of Bowie State's seven assists in the setback.
Chowan (3-8, 3-2 CIAA) produced strong attacking numbers as the team finished with a .366 attack percentage. On the top half of the stat sheet, Bowie State finished the match with .053 attack percentage
Makayla Castro paced the Hawks with 12 kills and six service aces. Sydney Bell chipped in with eight kills. Kayla Gates added seven kills and five service aces. Bailey Zavala tallied a team-high eight digs.
The Bulldogs return to the court on Monday (9/25) and will take on the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City (N.C.) State at 6 p.m. in ECSU's R.L. Vaughan Center.
