The Bowie State Bulldogs started its 2017 campaign off right, defeating the Seton Hill Griffins 48-7 on Saturday, September 2, 2017. The Bulldogs were dominant in all three phases of the game as the offense racked up 599 yards of total offense, the defense held the Griffins to 161 yards of total offense and special teams didn't give up any big plays. Everything almost seemed to go perfect for the Bulldogs, except for one area. That area was penalties as the Bulldogs were penalized 17 times on the afternoon. The Bulldogs must cut this number down as they are going for a championship run.
Week two is a matchup of the past two CIAA championship games. Winston-Salem State took the past two matchups against the Bulldogs. This showdown will take place on ESPN3 which is part of ESPN's online stream series. The Rams are coming off a win themselves in which they took down the previous 19th ranked team in the country in UNC-Pembroke 34-31. The Rams, who are now ranked 19th were dominant in the run game in which their starting running back Kerrion Moore ran for 230 yards. The Bulldogs last year out-gained the Rams in the CIAA championship but lost the game in the turnover category.
This is a high-profile matchup this week and could set the tone for the Bulldogs season. Starting senior cornerback
Rahman Kamara though says, "We're just looking at this game as the next game on the schedule. Every game is a big game for us, just like Seton Hill was the big game for us last week".
Star junior quarterback
Amir Hall had great game in the season opener, completing 23-of-26 passes for 361 yards and six total touchdowns (five passing and one rushing). He shared the same sentiments as Kamara. "It's just the next game on the schedule for us and we won't make it bigger than it has to be. As long as we prepare at a high-level we'll be ok."
