PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The University of the Sciences volleyball team strolled past Bowie State in non-conference play on Wednesday evening, downing the Bulldogs in straight sets by scores of 25-10, 25-11 and 25-15.
Bowie State (1-14) recorded a season-low minus .157 attack percentage compared to .280 for the University of the Sciences (6-13).
Four Devils swung at least .263 with five kills, led by Sarah Miller recording eight, added four service aces to go along with seven digs. Bianca Galis accounted for seven kills on .312 hitting, and Elizabeth Checca contributed six on .263 hitting. Caelin Jaskot and Danielle Taylor led all players with 26 assists and 12 digs, respectively.
Sophomore
Soljala Jones (Washington, D.C.) was responsible for five of the Bulldogs' 11 total kills and was credited with one dig and a block assist. Freshman
Madison Marshall (Albany, N.Y.) was the only other Bowie State players with multiple kills, tallying a pair on the night to go along with a team-high 10 digs. Sophomore
Bianca Tucker (Edgewood, Md.) was Bowie State leading setup player with eight.
Bowie State will have a break until returning to action at home for a doubleheader versus Virginia Union at 11 a.m. and Fayetteville State on Saturday (October 20th) at 3 p.m.
