BOWIE, Md. – Playing its second straight match in as many days, Bowie State volleyball knocked off Elizabeth City State in straight sets, beating the Lady Vikings 25-22, 25-17 and 26-24 on Friday evening in the A.C. Jordan Arena.
With the win, the Bulldogs pull its CIAA North record even at 2-2, 2-7 in league play and 4-13 overall.
Sophomore
Madison Marshall (Albany, N.Y.) paced Bowie State's Bulldogs with 10 kills on 25 attacks and added a match-high six service aces and ranked second on the team in digs with nine. Freshman
Neysha Washington (Winchester, Va.) recorded a match-high 16 digs to go along with three service aces and two digs for Bowie State while junior
Oladia Menchaca (Landover, Md.) contributed 12 assists and a pair of digs in the 3-0 sweep. Junior
Bianca Tucker (Edgewood, Md.) accounted for a match-high 15 assists.
Kaylee Williams and Jahera Dangerfield of Elizabeth City State (4-11, 3-5 CIAA, 1-2 North) tied for team-high kill honors with six apiece on a combined 44 attacks.
As a team, Bowie State had an attack percentage of .120 while Elizabeth City State was slightly ahead with an attack percentage of .121.
The Bulldogs will play host to CIAA Round-Up No. 2 this weekend and will begin play on Saturday (10/19) facing Johnson C. Smith at 1 p.m. followed by 1 4 p.m. contest against Saint Augustine's.
