CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) release its weekly basketball honor roll today and Bowie State University senior
Kyaja Williams (Baltimore, Md.) was named CIAA Player of the Week and CIAA Defensive Player of the Week. Williams nearly averaged a double-double over three games at 15.3 points and nine rebounds per contest. The Baltimore, MD native also averaged 3.66 steals and 2.66 assists per game while totaling four blocks to help the Bulldogs to a 3-0 record for the week, improving to 5-0 on the season. Her best performance came against the University of D.C. where she put up 16 points, nine rebounds, and seven steals along with two blocks. Defensively, Williams averaged six rebounds, 1.33 blocks and 3.66 steals in three games for the Bulldogs, including seven steals in their 58-47 win over the University of the District of Columbia. The 5-8 senior forward helped Bowie State hold their opponents to 38.9 percent shooting from the field and 51 points per game for the week.
The 5-0 (2-0 CIAA) Bulldogs will hit the road for its next two contest, making conference stops at Saint Augustine's on Thursday (12/5) at 3 p.m. and at Shaw on Saturday (12/7) at 2 p.m.
