ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - The Bowie State Bulldogs softball team picked him three CIAA victories on Saturday afternoon at the CIAA Round-Up, doubling up Shaw 16-8 and cruising past Saint Augustine's 22-2 and Livingstone 18-1 to improve to 3-6 overall and 3-2 in league play.

The Bulldogs accounted for 45 total hits, which included nine doubles, two triples and five home runs over three games, while Bowie State pitching held their opponents to 22 hits.

Redshirt senior
Madison Margas (Grasonville, Md.) led the team with 1.000 batting average, going 2-for-2 at the plate (both doubles), scored a pair of runs and was responsible for three RBI. Freshman
Kristina Hawke (New Castle, Del.) accounted for eight hits in 11 at bats and pushed a team-high eight RBI across the dish. Hawke also picked up all three wins in the circle, striking out 10 in 15.2 innings.

Shanya Gordon (Elkridge, Md.), Hawke and senior
Jaelyn Belt (Glen Burnie, Md.) led Bowie State with three hits each and freshmen Amy Ferguson (Orange, Va.) along with
Sierra Sims (Ormond Beach, Fla.) chipped in a pair of hits each in the 16-8 win over Shaw. Hawke faced 33 Lady Bears batters, allowed 13 hits and struck out four.

Tiffany Bearns (Huntingtown, Md.) and Hawke roughed up Saint Augustine's pitching in the second contest of the day, tallying four hits apiece while Ferguson added three hits in the 22-2 whitewash of the Lady Falcons. Bowie State pounded out a season-high 17 hits.

The Bulldogs made it three games in a row with double digit hits, accounting for 13 hits in the teams 18-1 blowout versus Livingstone. Gordon was Bowie State's leading hitter in the final game on Saturday, pacing the Bulldogs with three hits. Gordon, Bearns and Margas were BSU's leading RBI producers with three each.

Bowie State will close out the CIAA Round-Up on Sunday (3/17), facing Johnson C. Smith at 10 a.m. followed by a 2:30 matchup against Fayetteville State.
