FAIRFAX, Va. – The Bowie State University women's track and field competed well in Saturday's (4/13) George Mason Invitational.
Sophomore
Soljala Jones placed second in high jump with 1.64m score and finished sixth in long jump 5.55m final score. Senior
Niamani Mayes also competed in long jump and recorded 4.57m score.
In the shot put, freshman
Lorinda Bangura placed 12th with 11.69m score, while juniors De'sha Manago (10.69) and
Jordan McDonald (10.13) finished 18th and 21st, respectively. McDonald also competed in discus and finished 20th with 31.90m.
Sophomore
Amaree' Yates placed 17th in 100-meter with 12.56 time, while freshman Blessing Ekpo managed 13.73 time. Yates was also in contention for the 200-meter and finished 21st in 25.93.
In 400-meter, sophomore
Abigail Hunt placed 13th in 58.98, while junior
Kayla Tucker finished 26th in 1:02.05.
Bowie State placed ninth in 4x100 relay in 51.24 and consisted of Ekpo, Hunt,
Kayla Tucker and Yates.
Sophomore
Kaylia Brown placed 10th with the time of 1:09.79, while Mayes finished 12th in 1:10.68.
Bowie State will travel to Morgan State University to compete on April 19 and 20.
