Bowie State Softball Maul Washington Adventist 11-2

TAKOMA PARK, Md. – The Bowie State Bulldogs had no trouble at Washington Adventist on Thursday evening, mauling the Shock 11-2 in non-conference play.

Bowie State (6-19) tallied 11 hits with freshman Shanya Gordon (Elkridge, Md.) leading the attack with three hits in four at bats. The Bulldogs trio of freshman Kristina Hawke (New Castle, Del.) and seniors Jaelyn Belt (Glen Burnie, Md.) and Tiffany Bearns (Huntingtown, Md.) were responsible for a pair of hits each while sophomore Aseyah Alexander (Silver Spring, Md.) along with freshman Jayla Pinkney (Severn, Md.) added on one hit each in the win. Hawke also earned the win in the circle, pitching 6-innings before the game was called due to the 8-run mercy rule, striking out four and allowed five hits.

As a team, Bowie State had two home runs (Belt and Bearns) and three doubles (Bearns, Hawke and Pinkney) and will closeout the season at home on Sunday (April 28) hosting Washington Adventist in a doubleheader beginning at 12:30 p.m. The season finale has been designated as Senior Day and the Bulldogs will honor Belt, Bearns, Madison Margas and Morgan Powell in a special presentation during the afternoon.
