Joshua Pryor Named to Black College Football Player of the Year Award Watch List

BOWIE, Md. – Redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Joshua Pryor (Baltimore, Md.) of the Bowie State University football team was featured on the 2019 Black College Football Player of the Year Award watch list announced by the organization Wednesday (8/14) morning.
 
The award, sponsored by the Black College Football Hall of Fame, is presented annually to the most outstanding college football player from a Historically Black College & University (HBCU). 
 
The watch list is composed of 48 players from 27 different HBCU's, including 16 from the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference (MEAC), 13 from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), 10 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), eight from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) and one from an Independent conference.
 
Pryor had a phenomenal inaugural 2018 season for the Bulldogs and was named to the CIAA All-Rookie Team, CIAA Rookie of the Year, All-CIAA First Team and member of the Don Hansen D2 All-Ameircan Honorable Mention and BoxToRow All-American Teams. He ranked fourth on the team in total tackles with 55 and accounted for 20 tackles for a loss, nine sacks, two QB hurries, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and blocked one kick.
 
The Bulldogs open the 2019 season on Sept. 7 at American International University with a kickoff scheduled for 12 p.m. in Springfield, Mass.
