Bowie State Bulldogs Volleyball Lose a Pair to Wrapup Weekend Tournament

FROSTBURG, Md. – Bowie State (1-4) volleyball dropped a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday (9/14) afternoon, falling 3-0 to the University of the Sciences and 3-0 to Alderson Broaddus University to wrapup the Bulldogs' participation in the Frostburg State Tournament.
 
Over the two matches, junior Alana Matson (Baltimore, Md.) paced the Bulldogs with nine kills and added three service aces, eight digs and a pair of blocks. Senior Shalom Omo-Osagie (Baltimore, Md.) finished with eight kills to go along with two blocks while junior Soljala Jones (Washington, D.C.) contributed seven kills over the setbacks. Junior Chelsea Beaudoin (Upper Marlboro, Md.) put down a half dozen kills for Bowie State and added nine digs and a block assist. Junior Bianca Tucker (Edgewood, Md.) setup her teammates 23 times and freshman Neysha Washington (Winchester, Va.) picked up 26 digs on defense.
 
In the first match versus Sciences, Jones, Matson and Omo-Osagie knocked down five kills each and Beaudoin put down three kills in Bowie State's 15-25, 14-25 and 14-25 loss, while Washington was the teams' leader on defense with 18 digs. The Bulldogs finished the match with an attack percentage of minus .033, compared to .198 for the Devils.
 
Bowie State struggled in its final match of the weekend against Alderson Broaddus, garnering 17 kills on 87 total attacks for an attack percentage of .011. Matson was the leader at the net for the Bulldogs recording four kills on 12 attacks while Omo-Osagie, Beaudoin and Marshall tallied three kills apiece in the 14-25, 10-25 and 12-25 setback. Marshall and Washington earned 10 and 8 digs respectively for the Bulldogs.
 
The Bulldogs will look to get back in the win column on Thursday (September 19) traveling to Dover (Del.) to take on Wesley College in a 6 p.m. non-conference match.
