INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Bowie State University women's basketball program will make its third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II Championships as the Bulldogs have been selected the No. 4 seed in the Atlantic Region, announced Sunday night. The Bulldogs, under the leadership of fifth-year head coach Shadae Swan head into the NCAA's with an impressive 25-5 overall record.
 
Bowie State will square off against No. 5 Virginia Union in the opening round. The Atlantic Region tournament will be hosted by top seed Indiana University of Pennsylvania with the first round set to get underway Friday, March 13.

First round matchups and seeds include: No. 1 Indiana (Pa.) vs. No. 8 Fayetteville State, No. 2 Gannon (Pa.) vs. No. 7 California (Pa.), No. 3 Glenville (W.Va.) State vs. No. 6 Notre Dame (Ohio) and No. 4 Bowie State vs. No. 5 Virginia Union.
 
All four first round games will be played on Friday, March 13, with the semifinals the following evening on March 14. The Atlantic Region Championship will be played on Monday, March 16, with the winner advancing to the Elite 8 in Birmingham, Ala.
