BOWIE, Md. – No. 20 Bowie State women's basketball begins its 40th season and seventh season of the Shadae Swan era on the road Saturday, Nov. 13 with a matchup against Shippensburg. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Heiges Field House.

Like most teams, the Bulldogs did not compete in 2020-21 because of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Saturday's game will be the first time Bowie State will step on the floor since Feb. 29, 2020.
The Bulldogs were 25-5 overall and 12-3 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) action during the 2019-20 season. That year marked the fourth consecutive time Bowie State registered a 20-win season and would've been the third-straight time the Bulldogs would've made an appearance in the NCAA tournament but was canceled due to the pandemic.
Bowie State returns six players from the 2019-20 season highlighted by preseason All-CIAA Talanya Hutton (Seat Pleasant, MD) who averaged 11.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
A member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Shippensburg returns 10 players, including four starters from the 2019-20 team. The Raiders claimed the PSAC Eastern Division title and reached the semifinals of the conference tournament. Key returners including Ariel Jones who led the team in scoring with 22.3 points, while Destiny Jefferson and Aunbrielle Green posted 14.4 and 10.1 points, respectively.
The Raiders are led by Kristy Trn in her 23rd season.
