BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State women's basketball team will head out on the road on Saturday, Dec. 4 as the Bulldogs will tip off with the University of District of Columbia (UDC) at 1 p.m. from the Quealy Gymnasium.
BSU travels to UDC with a 2-2 record on the year, holding wins over Wilmington (DE) and most recently Goldey-Beacom. The Bulldogs will square off with the Firebirds for the 12th time since 2008. The last meeting between Bowie State and UDC occurred on Nov. 27, 2019 with the Bulldogs taking a 58-47 win at home.
As a team this season, Bowie State is scoring 59 points per game as their opponents' chart 63 points each outing. The Bulldogs are shooting 33-percent overall, 28-percent from the three-point line and 65-percent from the free throw line. BSU is led by freshman Katerra Myers (Burtonsville, MD) with 12 points per outing and coming off a career-performance with 17 points and 14 rebounds against Goldey-Beacom. Senior Talanya Hutton (Seat Pleasant, MD) and freshman Anii Harris (Ellicott City, MD) both add 11.5 and 10.5 points, respectively.
UDC is 4-3 so far this year with a 2-0 mark at home, having defeated Molloy, 72-69 on Wednesday, Dec. 1. The Firebirds are averaging 63.4 points per game and allowing just 37.2 points to opposing squads. UDC is shooting 33.6-percent from the field, including 23.6 from long distance and 62.1-percent from the charity stripe. Latavia Jackson is the team's leading scorer with 16.0 points and 8.9 rebounds a night while Destiny Ryles adds 10.3 points.
