BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State senior Kenny Amaya, along with juniors Joshua Pryor and Demetri Morsell were selected to the 2021 BOXTOROW HBCU College Football Preseason All-America Team announced on Aug. 5.
BOXTOROW has administered the All-America team since 2007 and the voters are comprised of media members from around the nation that cover HBCU football.
Amaya, a native of Bladensburg, Md., led all punters with 39 total punts worth 1,602 yards to lead the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Conference in 2019.
Pryor, a redshirt junior led the Bulldogs in total tackles in 2019, registering 70 total, including 35 solo and 35 assisted. The Baltimore, Md., native ranked first amongst the CIAA in total sacks (13) and yards (133). He also posted one pass breakup, a blocked kick and eight quarterback pressures en route to All-CIAA First Team.
Morsell, the 2019 CIAA Defensive Player of the Year and CIAA First Team recipient tabbed BOXTOROW All-America honors after leading the CIAA in interceptions (9) with three being returned for touchdowns – both led DII. The Upper Marlboro, Md., native led the conference with (5) passes defended while tallying 35 tackles in 12 games.
Both Pryor and Morsell helped the Bulldogs defensive unit held their opponents a league's best 16.3 points per contest.
Bowie State was one of six HBCUs with more than one selection on the team.
