Bowie, MD - The Bowie State women's volleyball team picked up their first victory of the 2021 season with a 3-0 win against Trinity Washington University Tuesday night in Theodore McKeldin Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs improve to 1-2 on the season while the Tigers fall to 0-1 on the year.
Junior
Madison Marshall (Albany, NY) and junior
Noel Snow (Mount Airy, MD) led the way with five kills apiece aided by senior
Bianca Tucker (Edgewood, MD) who dished out 20 assists. Defensively, sophomore
Neysha Washington (Winchester, VA) grabbed a match-high nine assists.
In the first set, neither teams got off to a good start offensively but the Bulldogs were able to rely on their defense, holding Trinity (DC) to a -.188-percent offensively in route to a 25-18 win.
Bowie State dominated in the second set, outscoring the Tigers 10-1 in kills for the 25-8 set win and 2-0 lead heading into the third stanza.
Although Trinity had more attacks in the third, the Bulldogs was able to capitalize on the Tigers miscues to come away with the 25-13 set win and sweep.
BSU will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 18
th when the Bulldogs travel to face Goldey-Beacom College and West Chester (PA) in a tri-match. Match times are set for 12 noon and 2 p.m. from Wilmington, DE.
