BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State women's basketball will be back in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) action Wednesday, Jan. 19 when the Bulldogs host Virginia Union University in a division matchup with a tip-off slated for 5:30 p.m. from A.C. Jordan Arena.

About the Bulldogs
Bowie State is coming off a 59-39 loss to Lincoln (PA). Against the Lions, BSU roared back from a 10-point deficit in the first quarter to close the gap to four (24-20) at halftime. However, the Bulldogs fell behind 42-27 in the third and couldn't stretch a comeback. Redshirt freshman Katerra Myers (Burtonsville, MD) was the lone Bulldog to score double digits, charting her second double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Myers leads the team in scoring, averaging 9.8 points and a team-high 6.4 rebounds per outing.
Scouting Virginia Union
The Lady Panthers are coming off an 81-77 win at Saint Augustine's Monday night. VUU held a 49-36 lead after halftime, outscoring the Lady Falcons 17-15 in the second quarter on 75-percent shooting (6-15) from the field. Four players scored in double figures led by Ny Langley with 20 points and six rebounds.
Taniah Johnson is the Lady Panthers leading scorer with 15.8 points per game which also ranks atop in the CIAA while Langley is the top rebounder with an average of 5.1 per outing. As a team, VUU averages 60.1 points per game while allowing their opponents post 67.0 points. Virginia Union ranks second in 3-point field goal percentage (33.7).
The Series
Over the years Bowie State and Virginia Union have battled against each other with both teams owning a win-streak of at least eight-straight through the last 29 meetings. During the last regular season matchups, BSU split with VUU but the Bulldogs earned a 53-41 win over the Lady Panthers during the 2020 CIAA Tournament in route to an appearance in the CIAA title game.
