Four Bulldogs Tab CIAA Football Weekly Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – Four Bowie State football student-athletes garnered Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Player of the Week honors announced by the league office Monday. This is the most the nods the Bulldogs have had this season after defeating Elizabeth City State last weekend in its road finale.

Kamrin Porter was named Offensive Lineman of the Week, Dion Golatt, Jr. was named the Quarterback of the Week, Kyle Parker tabbed Receiver of the Week and Kwincy Hall was voted Special Teams Player of the Week.

Porter and the rest of the Bowie State offensive line helped the Bulldogs gain 409 yards of total offense and 7.1 yards per play average against ECSU. Bowie State passed for 314 yards on 28 attempts (11.2 yards per attempt) and only one sack was allowed. The Bulldogs also had six plays of 20 yards or more.

Golatt, Jr. received his fourth weekly honor this season. The Largo, Md., native completed 12-of-22 passes for 261 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings. Golatt, Jr. averaged 21.8 yards per completion and 11.9 yards per attempt. He tossed an 80-yard touchdown to Parker in the second quarter for a 13-7 lead and rushed for 19 yards.

Against the Vikings, Parker turned in two receptions for 99-yards and a TD, which were a game-high, and season-high for the Bowie, Md., native.

As for Hall – the award is his second of the season. The Washington, D.C. native recorded 240 return yards that featured the go-ahead touchdown on an 88-yard kick return in the Bulldogs' win over Elizabeth City State. The redshirt junior returned three kickoffs for 139 yards and returned four punts for 101 yards. The 101 yards and 139 yards are both a single-game season-high in the CIAA. Hall had three punt returns of 25 or more yards, including a long of 37 yards. He also had one reception for eight yards.

The accolade is a first for both Porter and Parker.
