BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State's Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations Dr. Jolisa Williams was inducted into Charles City High School Hall of Fame this past weekend in Charles City, Va.

Known as one of the top girls basketball players during her time at CCHS, the Charles City, Va., native was a four-time First Team All Tri-Rivers District member and was named as the Group 1A Region A Player of the Year during the 2006-07 season. Williams guided Charles City to their first regional appearance in school history during the same year. She finished her high school career as the second leading scorer in Lady Panther's history with over 1,600 points and tops the school's list in assists.

"Jolisa Williams contributions to Charles City High School have been instrumental to the foundation of our athletics, especially in eh mid-2000s," said Director of Athletics at CCHS Andre Jones. "She was essential in the culture shift of the Charles City Lady Panther's basketball program took a team that had a rocky past to one that has blossomed and became successful. Her leadership and abilities inspired those who contribute today and there no words that can define the precedence she set for the future of the girls' basketball program here at Charles City High School."

"I was honored to coach her for all four years of her high school career and to see her passion for athletics grow in her collegiate and post-collegiate career is only a testament of her hard work, dedication and love for the youth."

Dr. Williams went on to become a three-year lettermen with the Lady Falcons women's basketball team of Saint Augustine's University (formerly Saint Augustine's College) where she was a part of the program's last division title during the 2009-10 season – it was the first division title for the program since 1993. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Management in 2012, graduating Magna Cum Laude from St. Augustine's and then a Master's Degree from Virginia State University in 2014. Most recently, Williams obtained her doctorate in July 2022 from Northcentral University.

"It was an incredible honor to be inducted into my high school's hall of fame," said Dr. Williams. "It was a dream come true for me and a testament that I hope inspires the future generation of other girls from Charles City to do the same if not better."
