Bowie State Athletics Supports Prince George’s County Youth at Pull Up & Play Community Event

LANDOVER, MD — The Bowie State Athletic Department proudly participated in the Pull Up & Play youth sports clinic on Saturday, May 9, at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex in Landover, Md., helping inspire and mentor the next generation through sport and community engagement.

Hosted by Pull Up Fund, the free event welcomed more than 500 youth from across Prince George's County for an afternoon of sports clinics, games and community connection. BSU student-athletes and coaches led hands-on instruction in basketball, cheerleading, football, tennis, track & field and volleyball, while Butch the Bulldog added to the excitement throughout the day.

"Pull Up and Play was an absolute celebration of community, energy, and Bulldog pride thanks to the incredible support of the Bowie State Athletic Department and our favorite mascot, Butch the Bulldog," said Bowie State men's and women's cross country and track & field head coach Pamela Crockett.

"More than 500 young people filled the space with excitement as our coaches and student-athletes poured into the next generation through hands-on instruction. The energy was electric from start to finish, and parents praised the positive atmosphere and impact of the day—with many asking if we'll be back next year."

The event reflects Bowie State Athletics' continued commitment to community outreach, using sport as a platform to inspire youth, build connections and make a lasting impact beyond competition.
