Bowie State Men's Hoops Return Home to Face Wilmington

BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State men's basketball team will host Wilmington University this Saturday, Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. inside A.C. Jordan Arena. It will be the Bulldogs last home stop before another three game road slate beginning Dec. 15 at Livingstone for conference play.

The Series:
Saturday's meeting will be the second time that the Bulldogs and Wildcats will face each other.  Wilmington is 1-0 all-time record against Bowie State after winning by a 10-point margin 88-78 last season in New Castle, Del. The Wildcats held a 50-32 led at halftime but despite the Bulldogs outscoring the Wildcats in the second half (48-36), WU gained its largest lead of the game - 22 points shooting 57.6-percent from the field in the second frame compared to Bowie State's 48.3-percent.
 
Scouting the Bulldogs (2-8)
The Bulldogs enter Saturday's game on a five game losing skid, the last time BSU won at home was during its season opener back on Nov. 11 with a 94-79 win over Frostburg State. Bowie State is 1-3 at home this season.
 
Last time out against No. 13 Augusta, the Bulldogs came close to an upset but in the final minutes – critical turnovers and a defensive lapse provided the Jags with enough to squeeze out the win 73-70 Thursday afternoon. Junior Mark Bradshaw (Chester, PA), who had 17 points and three steals. Junior Joel Webb (Forestville, MD) tacked on 13 points and eight rebounds and freshman Jacory Wilkes (Silver Spring, MD) helped out with 12 points from the bench in the setback.
 
Scouting the Wildcats (4-4)
Wilmington is coming off 75-71 lost against Jefferson (PA) on Dec. 6 that snapped a three-game winning streak. Three Wildcats scored in double figures led by Justin Thomas who scored 16 points. Although Jefferson had 18 turnovers, the Rams shot 42-percent from the field aiding them in the win. Wilmington enters Saturday's game with a 4-1 record on the road this season.
 
The Wildcats averages 75 points per game and a shooting average of 49-percent from the field.  Randy Rickards has led the team with 15.6 points per game and is shooting 57.6-percent from the field.
 
Up Next
The Bulldogs will begin Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) conference play at Livingstone College on Thursday, Dec. 15. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Salisbury, NC.
