Box Score 1 RICHMOND, Va. – The Bowie State softball team picked up a pair of wins Saturday afternoon defeating Virginia Union 5-4 in game one and 6-2 in game two to extend its Northern Division record to 4-0 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
The wins improve Bowie State (14-14-1) conference record to 7-3 while VUU (9-9) dips to 6-6 in the CIAA.
Freshman Saniya Jones (Louisa, VA) went 4-for-4 and an RBI to lead the Bulldogs offensively in game two while graduate senior Evelyn Buehlman (Ellicott City, MD) struck out five batters in seven innings of work for the win. She improves to .500 with a 7-7 record in the circle.
In game two, freshman Kayla Evans (Bridgeville, DE) went 2-for-3 at the plate as the Bulldogs tallied seven hits. Junior Akirra Pullen (Baltimore, MD) struck her sixth homerun of the season, also finishing up 2-for-4 and four RBI. Freshman Lindsey George (Fayetteville, GA) pitched six innings, striking out two for the win in the circle. She improves to 2-4.
The Bulldogs will return to action Sunday, Apr. 10 at Virginia State for a division doubleheader at 1 p.m.
