Bobo, Boone and Pryor Named to Black College Football Player of the Year Watch List

BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State Bulldogs remain in preseason headlines as Quinton Bobo, Raymond Boone and Joshua Pryor were all named to the 2022 the Black College Football Hall of Fame (BCFHOF) Watch List for the Black College Football Player of the Year Award announced Tuesday morning. The award is presented annually to the most outstanding football player from a Historically Black College & University.
Four finalists will be unveiled after the season. The winner of the Black College Football Player of the Year Award, which will be announced during halftime of the 2023 HBCU Legacy Bowl and will be honored with the Deacon Jones Trophy. The HBCU Legacy Bowl takes place on Saturday, February 25, 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The game will be broadcast live on NFL Network.
 
The Watch List candidates have been selected based on past performance and potential. Additions to the list may be made as the 2022 season progresses. A Selection Committee will choose the finalists and the winner.
 
Quinton Bobo
A native of White Plains, Md., Bobo was named to the Black College Football Player of the Year Watch List after an outstanding season in 2021 where he helped anchor the Bulldogs offense as a key figure of the offensive line unit that captured a first place finish in the CIAA for total points (385), total touchdowns (60) and extra field goal points (54). The offensive line was an instrumental piece in BSU's offense 4,923 yards of total offense including 2,489 rushing yards and 25 rushing touchdowns for a conference second best.
 
Bobo has already garnered preseason All-CIAA, BOXTOROW All-American and 2022 College Football American DII Starting Lineup nod.
 
Raymond Boone
Raymond Boone, Jr., a native of Landover, Md., was named to the Black College Football Player of the Year Watch List after proving to be one of the best defensive backs in the nation in 2021. Boone finished the 2021 season leading the Bulldogs and the CIAA in total interceptions (5), 58 total tackles including 40 solo, two breakups, a forced fumble and a blocked kick. Boone was named Second Team All-CIAA in 2021.
 
Joshua Pryor
Hailing from Baltimore, Md., Joshua Pryor was named to the Black College Football Player of the Year Watch List after capping off his junior season campaign with 73 total tackles (42 solo), a team-high 12 quarterback pressures, six sacks (sixth in CIAA), and a conference third-best tackle-for-loss total (20.5). The preseason All-CIAA honoree garnered attention from NFL scouts throughout the 2021 season and is expected to be on the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl Watchlist.
