WACO, Tex. – Despite defeating another ranked opponent last weekend, the Bowie State football team dropped a spot in this week's American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) DII Top-25 Poll to No. 9 announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs, who were previously ranked No. 8 in the nation, defeated now No. 24 New Haven Saturday in a come-from-behind 27-20 victory last weekend.
BSU is the only institution on the top-25 list from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Conference and one of two historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) and the higher of the two at No. 9. Another HBCU and CIAA foe who received votes was Virginia Union (8) while the Bulldogs week two opponent Saginaw Valley State also received votes (20) this week.
