BOWIE, Md. – Looking for its fourth-straight win, and seventh at home this season, the Bowie State women's basketball will welcome the Trojans of Virginia State University in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Northern Division action Saturday, Jan. 28 at 12 noon from A.C. Jordan Arena.

The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. About the Masons
Officially chartered on September 29, 1784, Prince Hall Freemasons represent the oldest recognized and continuously active organization founded predominately for, and by, African American men. As it exists in Maryland, The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Maryland and Its Jurisdiction, Inc. traces its beginnings back to February 2, 1825, and since its inception, the organization has been committed to making good men better by providing opportunities for fellowship, charity, education and leadership. The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Maryland and Its Jurisdiction, Inc. will show its support for the student-athletes and athletic programs at Bowie State University, Maryland's oldest Historically Black College/University, as the university continues to blaze a path forward for African American scholars here in our great state of Maryland!

14-13 overall since 2009 is the record Bowie State holds over Virginia entering Saturday's nationally televised game. The Bulldogs have not had much success against the Trojans in the last 10 matchups as VSU holds a 7-3 record in the last 10 meetings including three-straight wins over BSU coming into this weekend's game.

Saniha Jackson put the Bowie State women's basketball team ahead for good with 36 seconds to go the extra period to give the Bulldogs a 64-60 win over the Shaw Lady Bears (11-10,4-5 CIAA, 2-2 North) on the road Wednesday night inside C.C. Jazmyne Scott's five offensive rebounds, BSU did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 23 boards that resulted in 16 second chance points.The Bulldogs' defense was effective at forcing 23 Shaw turnovers while committing 16. Those takeaways turned into 23 points on the offensive end of the floor. Jackson led the way individually for the Bulldogs with two steals.
Last Time against VSU
BSU got outscored in all four quarters against Virginia State during the last meeting which occurred at the conference tournament. The Bulldogs shot poorly in the contest, posting 9-of-56 in field goals, 6-of-27 behind the three-point arc and 9-of-16 from the free throw line for the game while the Trojans shot 33.3-percent from the floor overall, making 2-of-6 3-pointers and hit 16-of-30 free throws. A Look at the Trojans
Virginia State (8-12, 4-6 CIAA) has lost its last four games entering Saturday's game. The Trojans suffered 76-58 loss to Lincoln (PA) Thursday night, marking its seventh loss on the road this season. The first three quarters were within reach for VSU but the Trojans were held to just 10 points in the fourth while allowing 25 from the defending champion Lady Lions. Sommer Blakemore led the efforts with 14 points and eight assists while Raija Todd and Kalyn Ervin both finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively. The loss dipped the Trojans to 1-3 within the North, a team whose offense ranks last in the CIAA for scoring, averaging 59.1 points per game while they've allowed its opponents to score the same (59.1). Within the CIAA's team categories, Virginia State only has a top-3 ranking in team free throw percentage at 70-percent. VSU also ranks last in team rebounds (34.3).
