Women’s Basketball Set to Clash with Fayetteville State Monday Night in A.C. Jordan Arena

BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State women's basketball will host its last game of its three-game home slate on Monday, Jan. 9 when the Bulldogs face off with Fayetteville State University in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) cross division action. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside A.C. Jordan Arena.

The Series
The Bulldogs are 13-8 against the Lady Broncos since 2008. Bowie State owns a 5-2 record against FSU at home and 10-5 mark in conference play. In the last 10 matchups between the teams, Bowie State has won eight.
 
Last Time Out
The Bulldogs (8-6, 4-1 CIAA) gave Claflin its second conference loss on the year and it also marked the second-straight win for Bowie State. Against the Lady Panthers, BSU used an 18-8 scoring run in the five minutes of the game to come away with the win led by nine points off the bench from freshman Mia Smith (Clarksburg, MD). The Bulldogs defense also cleaned up the offensive glass with 17 boards in route to a 38-36 rebounding advantage over Claflin. Katerra Myers (Burtonsville, MD) turned in a 15-point performance to go along with eight rebounds while Anii Harris (Ellicott City, MD) added 12 points and four steals and Saniha Jackson (Ellicott City, MD) posted 10 points.
 
Last Time against Fayetteville State
The last meeting between Bowie State and Fayetteville State occurred on Feb. 7, 2022. The game was a low scoring affair but in the end it would be the Bulldogs that would come away with the one point win (45-44) as BSU hit three free throws despite the Lady Broncos hitting a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Harris finished with 10 points, four assists and three rebounds while the Bulldogs bench held a 35-12 scoring margin. Myers would finish with a team-high 12 rebounds in the winning effort.
 
A Look at the Lady Broncos
The Lady Broncos (8-5, 4-1 CIAA)'s Rasheka Simmons hit a game winning shot with seven seconds remaining to put Fayetteville State on top in a 68-66 decision against Virginia Union Saturday. Morgan Graham had 15 points four blocks while Aniylah Bryant added 15 points, six rebounds, four steals and three steals. Keayna McLaughlin contributed 10 points in the win.
 
FSU is 4-3 on the road this season and currently stand tied for first place in the Southern Division with Winston-Salem State with a 4-1 conference record. The Lady Broncos lone conference loss came against Lincoln (PA) on Jan. 5 by the score of 58-47.
