ELIZABETH CITY, NC -- The Bowie State women's volleyball team jumped ahead 1-0, but couldn't hang on and lost 3-1 (25-14, 17-25, 18-25, 22-25) to the Saint Augustine's Lady Falcons Saturday at R.L. Vaughan Center.

The loss dropped Bowie State's record to 2-20 overall and 0-8 in CIAA action.

Madyson Brinson finished with 19 kills on the day to lead the Bulldogs attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .438. Defensively, had three players reach double figures in digs, including Iman Wright's 14, 12 from Tristynn Kerr, and 12 more from Mekenna Scott.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Bulldogs took control on the first point and never trailed to win the first set 25-14. Bowie State opened up its biggest lead, 11 points, to close out the set. Bowie State also supplemented their offense with five aces in the opening set.

SET 2 | Bowie State then dropped the second set 25-17, evening the match at a set apiece. Bowie State trailed by as many as eight points as Saint Augustine's grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that was knotted up two times before the Falcons took over the lead.

SET 3 | Bowie State lost again in the third set to make it a 2-1 deficit. The Bulldogs dropped a tough set 25-18. Bowie State trailed by as many as seven points as Saint Augustine's grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that was tied up three times before the Falcons took over the lead.

SET 4 | Bowie State lost the fourth set and the match, falling 25-22. The Bulldogs fought back from a seven-point deficit at 10-3, but it wasn't enough as Saint Augustine's held on to win the set.
