CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced the leagues first Player of the Week awardees after the season openers for all 13 institutions and Bowie State's
Anii Harris and
Beulah Odiong were selected the CIAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday afternoon.
Harris averages 18.5 points after a combining 37 points in the two games played during the conference challenge this weekend. The Ellicott City, Md., native scored 23 points on 11-of-17 shooting to go along with five steals and three assists against Mansfield. Against Shippensburg, the junior guard poured in 14 points including 6-for-6 from the charity stripe, six rebounds and three steals in the win.
Odiong combined for 16 rebounds including a game-high 10 and three steals in the Bulldogs win over Shippensburg Saturday. In the two games, the Bowie, Md., native averaged 8.0 rebounds per game.
Both Harris and Odiong were named to the All-Tournament Team following their performances this weekend.
