BOWIE, MD --- The Bowie State women's basketball team will return to A.C. Jordan Arena on Tuesday, Dec. 12 as the Bulldogs welcome the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith for Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) cross division action at 5:30 p.m. The game will air live on the Bulldog Sports Network. This will be the first of three home games for Bowie State this week.

About Bowie State
The Bulldogs are 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the CIAA, hoping to extend its current win-streak to five games when Johnson C. Smith comes to town Tuesday. BSU is 2-0 at home this season, earning wins over California (PA), 74-61 on Nov. 27 and a 82-71 statement over Goldey-Beacom on Dec. 5. The Bulldogs are averaging 67.4 points per game, shooting 37-percent from the field, 23-percent from the 3-point line and 63-percent from the charity stripe. Bowie State is led by
Anii Harris who leads the CIAA in scoring with an average of 19.5 points per game, she's sixth in field goal percentage amongst the league (47.8-percent) and 14th at the free throw line (62-percent).
Katerra Myers is second in league for free throws, posting a 88-percent mark while on the glass, the Burtonsville, Md., native is 11th with an average of 6.5 (team-best) rbg.
The Last Whistle
BSU used a 23-7 scoring frame in the fourth quarter to seal the road win over Claflin last weekend to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 start into conference play. The Bulldogs had two players score in double figures, led by
Harris, who had 23 points and two steals.
Jayla Irvin tacked on 12 points and nine rebounds and
Beulah Odiong added nine points, seven rebounds and three steals. Led by
Saniha Jackson's three offensive rebounds, Bowie State pulled down 12 boards that resulted in 10 second chance points. Bowie State's defense held Claflin (2-4, 0-2 CIAA) to only 39.3-percent shooting from the field, including 27.3-percent from beyond the arc.
Scouting Johnson C. Smith
The Golden Bulls are 1-2 on the road this season. JCSU is coming off a road victory (60-55) at Benedict on Dec. 9 in non-conference action. The win had snapped a three game losing skid for the Golden Bulls who've earned a total of two wins on the young season. Their first win of the 2023-24 campaign came against Albany State back on Nov. 18 in Atlanta, Ga. The top scorer for Johnson C. Smith is Ciara Harris who's one of two players averaging double figures at 16.7 points (5th in CIAA) while Kelis Carmon adds 12.2 points (13th in CIAA), respectively. Harris is also the team's top rebounder at 7.0 rebounds per outing which is eighth in the CIAA. The Golden Bulls are led by Monterika Warren in her first season at the helm.
