BOWIE, MD – Bowie State women's basketball will host a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) matchup against Winston-Salem State on Thursday, Dec. 14 inside A.C. Jordan Arena with a tip-off slated for 5:30 p.m. The game will air live on the Bulldog Sports Network with Evan Johnson and Christopher Davis on the call. The doubleheader will be the first of seven for Bowie State men's and women's basketball for the 2023-24 season.

The Last Timeout
The Bulldogs were led by a combined 41 points from Harris and Myers. However, Bowie State's points were not enough to defeat the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith on Tuesday as the Bulldogs fell 66-59 at home. The loss snapped BSU's win streak to four games.
Anii Harris contributed 28 points and four steals while
Katerra Myers tacked on 13 points, six rebounds and four steals, followed by
Robyn Howard who helped with eight points and five assists. Collectively the team had 31 rebounds which added 11 second chance points.
Leading the Pack
Harris leads the CIAA in scoring, averaging 20.6 points per game, she's sixth in the league in field goal percentage (48-percent) and steals (2.9). Myers is also ranked in the top-10 within the CIAA for rebounding (6.4) at No. 10, she is the conference leader in free throw percentage (82-percent).
The Opponent
The Rams are coming off a one-point loss (62-63) to UNC Pembroke on Dec. 9 in overtime. Winston-Salem State held a 27-26 lead at halftime but both teams were evenly matched in the second half after scoring 10 apiece in the third quarter and a 20-19 scoring frame for the Braves in the fourth that forced the extra session. In overtime, UNCP edged the Rams, 7-6 for the win. WSSU was led by Kennedi Simmons with 23 points while Amaya Tucker and Tolisha Walker both contributed 13 points, respectively. Taniah Wilkins grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, followed by Walker with six.
As a team, the Rams average 64.9 points per game while holding a scoring margin of 5.0 over its opponents. Notably, Winston-Salem State leads the CIAA in 3-point field goal percentage (35-percent), Simmons ranks atop in the league for field goal percentage at 62-percent while Tucker and Simmons rank second and fourth in the 3-point field goals per game at 2.3 and 2.1, respectively.
