BOWIE, MD --- The Bowie State men's basketball team will play its first nationally televised game of the season on Saturday, Dec. 9 when the Bulldogs travel to Orangeburg, S.C. to take on the Panthers of Claflin in its Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) opener. The game will broadcast live on HBCUGo App or at
www.HBCUGo.tv. The deal was made available through a partnership between the CIAA and the Allen Media Group (AMG) free-streaming platform, HBCU Go, the leading media provider for the nation's 107 Historically Black Colleges & Universities.

About Bowie State
The Bulldogs are .500 (4-4) coming off a gutsy win over Shippensburg last night, 70-69 in A.C. Jordan Arena. With 13 seconds remaining,
Anthony Carpenter took which would be a game winning charge to secure the win for Bowie State. BSU had three players score in double figures, led by
Joel Webb, who put together a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Deven Richmond tacked on 14 points and
Caleb Johnson chipped in as well with 14 points, four assists and two steals off the bench. BSU utilized excellent ball movement in the contest, piling up 16 assists on 26 made field goals. Individually, Johnson dished out the most for the Bulldogs with four assists and
Carpenter also contributed with three assists of his own.
The Bulldogs are still in search of its first road win of the 2023-24 season, the three losses came at UDC (68-67) on Nov. 18, Shepherd (60-54) and most recently at Felician (89-75) Monday night.
Statistically, Bowie State has been led by the guard play of both Johnson and Bradshaw. Johnson averages 13.5 points while Bradshaw is right behind at 12.3 points, respectively. Meanwhile Webb has been the best defender for the Bulldogs, especially on the glass with a team-high of 7.6 rebounds per outing and .0 blocks a night. Notable team-high's for Bowie State includes 104 points scored against Cheyney (11/29) with 42 made field goals, 81 field goal attempts, free throw attempts (23), free throws made (15), assists (24) and rebounds (51). The Bulldogs have nine returners from last year's squad and have four newcomers including one true freshman.
Scouting Claflin
The Panthers (2-3) fell to Lander, 83-64 on Wednesday night. Despite being tied at 37-all at halftime, Claflin got outscored 46-27 in the second half. The Panthers finished the game with a shooting percentage of 32-percent from the field, including 35-percent from long distance and 68-percent from the free throw line. John Whitehead, III scored a team-high 18 points, followed by Zion Obanla with 16 points. This season, DaiJohn Stewart is the team's leading scorer, averaging 12.6 points per game through five games while Bryson Dennis adds 12.8 points, respectively.
Claflin returns six players from a season, including Jailen Williams who led the team in scoring (11.9 ppg), the Panthers finished 19-7 overall and 10-6 in the CIAA before falling to Winston-Salem State, the 2022-23 CIAA Champions during the quarterfinal round, 60-52 back on Feb. 23.

Bowie State will remain on the road for a non-conference tilt at George Washington on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. The game will air live on ESPN+ from the Charles E. Smith Center in Washington, D.C.
