MURFREESBORO, N.C. -- Graduate senior Aseyah Alexander and sophomore Lindsey George each collected three hits to help lead the Bowie State Bulldogs past the New Haven Chargers 10-4 on Friday afternoon at the Hawks Softball Classic.
George (1-0) got the win for Bowie State (5-1). The right-hander went three innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on four hits. Senior Akirra Pullen started the ballgame and went four innings, surrendering one run on three hits, walking none and striking out four.
In addition to her three hits, George had a double, a home run and two RBI to lead the Bulldogs. Alexander added an RBI to her three-hit performance as well. Sophomore Kayla Evans also chipped in for Bowie State, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs scored in six different innings on the way to victory. BSU broke a 0-0 tie and took the lead for good at 2-0 in the first inning Alexander's run-scoring single highlighted the two-run frame for the Bulldogs.
GAME NOTES
» Bowie State got three-hit games from both George and Alexander.
» The Bulldogs power output was led by George, who picked up two extra base hits in the ballgame.
» Bowie State's highest scoring inning was the seventh, when it pushed two runs across.
» Bowie State took a 2-0 lead in the top half of the first and didn't surrender that lead for the remainder of the game.

» George led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI.
» New Haven was led offensively by freshman Ashley Veillette, who went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.
» Senior Selena Aponte led the Chargers pitching staff, throwing seven innings of 10-run ball.
