MURFREESBORO, N.C. -- The Bowie State Bulldogs struggled on Sunday, falling to the Chowan Hawks by final score of 7-1.
Sophomore Lindsey George (1-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Bowie State (5-2). Senior Akirra Pullen started the ballgame and went five innings, surrendering one run on five hits, walking one and striking out four.
Offensively, the Bulldogs were paced by George, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the fourth inning. George put Bowie State on the board with a one-out solo home run off freshman Haileigh Boone. The Bulldogs were unable to hold the lead, as Chowan (7-5) scored seven times over the remaining three innings to grab the 7-1 win.
GAME NOTES

» Bowie State pitchers faced 32 Chowan hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and five fly balls while striking out four.
