ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
The Bulldogs enter the mid-week doubleheader with a 5-3 record, coming off pair setbacks to Chowan (1-7) and Frostburg State (6-7) during the final day of the Hawks Classic in Murfreesboro, N.C. on Sunday. Against the Hawks, sophomore Lindsey George went 1-for-3 that included a homerun and an RBI while senior Akira Pullen collected three hits that also included a homerun and three RBI to lead BSU against the Bobcats.
Both Pullen and George have split majority of the pitching duties in the eight games, as George is stands 2-2 with a 5.87 earned run average.
SCOUTING THE BISONS
Howard (2-7) has lost its last six outings entering Wednesday's game. The Bison's competed in the Cavalier Classic last weekend and suffered losses against Longwood (2-6), Maryland Eastern Shore (4-9), St. John's (7-11) and most recently against Virginia (0-8) and George Washington (5-7). At the plate, Sydney Fletcher leads the offensive attach for HU with seven hits and hitting percentage of .438 while Alyssa Watson also has seven hits on the young season to go along with a batting average of .292.
Mia Gonzales is 1-4 in the circle and an earned run average of 5.96. She has struck out 18 batters and allowed 35 hits in 27 innings pitched.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Bowie State will host Slippery Rock on Saturday, Mar. 4 for its home opener beginning at 1 p.m. (DH), following a twinbill with Mansfield on Sunday, Mar. 5 at 12 noon. Both games will be played on campus at the BSU Softball Field.
