Bowie State Releases 2023 Football Schedule

BOWIE, Md. - Bowie State football has announced its 2023 football schedule, a 10-game slate that includes eight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) contests, four home games and an FCS opponent. This will be Kyle Jackson's first official season at the helm of the program since Bowie State removed his interim tag back on Jan. 23, 2023.

"I'm excited about our 2023 schedule as we start with a very tough non-conference schedule," said Jackson. "Opening up with a FCS program and a DII program that made the playoffs in 2022, will be a good test before starting conference play. As a staff we have worked extremely hard to build and develop, a roster that we feel will represent the university well. We look forward to kicking off the season September 2 in Delaware."

The Bulldogs open 2023, beginning with FCS opponent and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) member Delaware State. BSU and DSU will kick off the season on Saturday, Sept. 2 at Alumni Stadium in Dover, Del. This will be the sixth meeting between the two programs, as the Hornets own a 4-1 series lead.

Bowie State will travel to Grand Rapids, MI to take on Davenport for the first time in program history on Sept. 9. A member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), DU made it to the NCAA DII Playoffs for the first time in program history in 2022. The Panthers finished 8-3 overall record and 20th in the final American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) DII Coaches Poll last season.
The Bulldogs will host Shaw for its home opener on Sept. 16, followed by another home tilt with Saint Augustine's (Sept. 23) at Bulldog Stadium.

Then BSU will head south to play Livingstone (Sept. 30) before returning home to Bulldog Stadium. The Bulldogs will host Virginia State for its 2023 homecoming game on Oct. 7.

For the next two games, Bowie State will take road trips to Virginia Union (Oct. 14) and newly CIAA member Bluefield State (Oct. 21). The final game for the Bulldogs in October will feature a home tilt with Elizabeth City State on the 28th

Finally, the Bulldogs will head to Pennsylvania with plans to extend its win streak to 12 games versus Lincoln (PA) for its regular season finale on Nov. 4.

The CIAA Championship will be played on Nov. 11.
