GAME 2 | Bowie State 11, Bluefield State 0
BOWIE, MD --Â Sophomore Karen Fritzges was dealt on Friday, throwing a four-hit shutout to lead the Bowie State Bulldogs past the Bluefield State Big Blues 11-0 to give BSU a clean sweep at the BSU Softball Field.
Fritzges (3-1) went the distance for Bowie State (10-8), giving up four hits, walking three and striking out two.
At the plate, the Bulldogs were paced by freshman Alaysia Ross, who went 2-for-3 on the day with three RBI. Senior Shanya Gordon furnished a noteworthy performance as well, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Sophomore Aliyah Smith also contributed for Bowie State, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding two walks and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Bowie State's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Ross.
The Bulldogs also added runs in the second, third, and fourth innings on the way to the 11-0 victory.
