GAME 1 | Bowie State 12, Bluefield State 2
BOWIE, MD --Â Sophomore Lindsey George racked up four RBIs to help propel the Bowie State Bulldogs past the Bluefield State Big Blues 12-2 on Friday during game one.
Senior Akirra Pullen (3-3) got the win for Bowie State (9-8). The right-hander went five innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on seven hits, allowing two walks and striking out one.
George went 1-for-3 with a triple in addition to her four RBIs for the Bulldogs. Sophomore Kayla Evans compiled a standout performance as well, going 2-for-2 with a triple, a walk and three RBI. Freshman Sydney Edmond also contributed for Bowie State, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning. Bowie State put up two runs in the frame, highlighted by an RBI triple off the bat of Evans.
The Big Blues then gained ground, narrowing the lead to 2-1 until the Bulldogs expanded their advantage in the third. Bowie State picked up a pair of runs in the frame. which brought the score to 4-1 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Bluefield State narrowed Bowie State's lead to 4-2 before the Bulldogs stretched the advantage to 12-2 in the fourth inning. The Bulldogs bats heated up in the inning, scoring eight runs, including a two-run triple off the bat of George and a two-run single from Evans. The score remained 12-2 for the rest of the game, as Bowie State coasted to the win.

» Bluefield State was led offensively by junior Cooksey, who went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
» Freshman Mullin led the Big Blues pitching staff, throwing one inning of three-run ball.
