GAME 1 | Mansfield (PA) 2, Bowie State 1
BOWIE, MD --The Bowie State Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead into the sixth inning, but could not hang on and fell 2-1 to the Mansfield Mountaineers Sunday afternoon in game one of the day's doubleheader.
Sophomore Lindsey George (2-4) got the ball to start for Bowie State (5-6) and took the loss. The right-hander went five innings, giving up one run on two hits, allowing five walks and striking out seven.
Sophomore Brittany Brewer led the way offensively for the Bulldogs, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the fifth inning. Sophomore Jahkya Watkins came across to score the lone run of the inning for BSU and get them on the board. The Bulldogs were unable to hold the lead, as Mansfield scored two times over the remaining two innings to grab the 2-1 win.
