Bowie State to Host Bloomsburg in Softball Action Tuesday

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie State softball team (6-6) will host Bloomsburg (4-2) on Tuesday, Mar. 7 in a non-conference doubleheader at the BSU Softball Field. The first game is set for 2 p.m., followed by game two at approximately 25 minutes after the conclusion of the opener.

THE SERIES
Bowie State is 0-8 against Bloomsburg all-time. The last time these two teams met was during the 2022 season in Bowie, Md., where the Bulldogs fell 8-2 and 15-9.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
Bowie State (6-6) is coming off a split with Mansfield on Sunday, the Bulldogs fell short 2-1 in the opener but opened up the can in the nightcap with a 11-2 victory in six innings. In the batter's box, the Bulldogs were led by sophomore Karen Fritzges, who went 2-for-5 on the day with a double and three RBI - she also took the win in the circle, giving up four hits, allowing one walk and striking out three. Senior Shanya Gordon compiled a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and an RBI. Sophomore Sydney Edmond also contributed for Bowie State, putting together zero hits in one trip to the plate while adding three walks and two RBI.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
The Huskies are coming off a sweep over Bloomfield on Sunday. Bloomsburg defeated the Bears 4-0 and 11-3 (6 innings). Kammy Kropinkski has a hitting percentage of .500 that includes seven hits, an RBI and two runs scored. She combined for 4-6 at the plate, two runs and an RBI against Bloomfield.

BU has used a plethora of pitches through six games but the top pitches for Bloomsburg is Callie Sowers (2-1) who has an ERA of 2.72 to go along with 24 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Bowie State will travel to Delaware State on Wednesday, Mar. 15 for a non-conference doubleheader at 12 noon in Dover, Del.
