GAME 1 | Bowie State 5, Bloomsburg (PA) 4
BOWIE, MD -- It was a difficult day for Bloomsburg pitchers, as the Bowie State Bulldogs tallied five runs en route to a 5-4 win over the Huskies on Tuesday afternoon at the BSU Softball Field.
Senior Akirra Pullen (2-2) got the win for Bowie State (7-6). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up four runs, two earned, on eight hits, allowing no walks and striking out one.
In the batter's box, the Bulldogs were paced by sophomore Lindsey George, who went 2-for-3 on the day with two RBI. Sophomore Kayla Evans put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-1 with two walks and an RBI. Sophomore Brittany Brewer also helped out for Bowie State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs were trailing 1-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Bowie State scored twice, with one run coming across on freshman Trinity Mizelle's single.
After the Huskies rallied to tie the ballgame at two, the Bulldogs came back to retake the lead in the third inning. Bowie State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of George, which brought the Bulldogs lead to 3-2.
Bowie State's lead had disappeared once the fourth inning arrived and turned into a 4-3 Bloomsburg advantage, when the Bulldogs re-took control at 5-4. The Bulldogs scored twice, with one run coming across on Pullen's single. The score remained 5-4 for the rest of the game, as Bowie State held on for the win.
