GAME 2 | Millersville (PA) 8, Bowie State 4
MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- The Bowie State Bulldogs had a tough showing in game two of the non-conference doubleheader, falling to the Millersville Marauders by final score of 8-4 in the nightcap at the Seaber Softball Stadium.
The sweep snapped a 12-game winning streak for BSU as the Bulldogs remain winless at Millersville all-time (0-13).
Senior Akirra Pullen (8-5) got the ball to start for Bowie State (25-11) and took the loss. Sophomore Jayla Hill led the way offensively for the Bulldogs, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a home run and an RBI. Sophomore Sydney Edmond furnished a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-2 with a double while freshman Alaysia Ross also chipped in, going 2-for-2 for Bowie State with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Edmond came across to score the lone run of the inning for Bowie State and get them on the board.
The Marauders then rallied to score three runs and take a 3-1 lead before the Bulldogs got back on the board in the second. Bowie State picked up a run on Hill's leadoff home run off Millersville, which tightened the Marauders lead to 3-2.
Millersville built their lead to 8-2 before BSU's offense got going, reducing that lead to 8-3 in the fifth.
Bowie State kept the Marauders off the board before narrowing the gap further in the sixth. The Bulldogs scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Ross, bringing the score to 8-4 in favor of Millersville. The Bulldogs were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

» Bowie State's highest scoring inning was the sixth, when it pushed one run across.
» Bowie State pitchers faced 33 Millersville hitters in the game, allowing five ground balls and 11 fly balls while striking out three.
» Hill led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI.
