Elizabeth City State Snaps Bulldogs Win-Streak in CIAA Play, Bowie State Falls 12-6

GAME 1 | Elizabeth City State 12, Bowie State 6

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. -- The Bowie State Bulldogs got a boost from sophomore Jahkya Watkins, who totaled three hits but the Bulldogs suffered its first conference loss of the season by the hands of the Elizabeth City State Vikings, 12-6 Sunday afternoon at the Sports Complex.

Senior Akirra Pullen (9-6) got the ball to start for Bowie State (30-12,13-1 CIAA) and took the loss. Watkins' three-hit day led the Bulldogs offensively. Sophomore Lindsey George compiled a noteworthy performance as well, going 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. Graduate senior Aseyah Alexander also chipped in for Bowie State, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs were trailing 6-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Sophomore Kayla Evans came across to score the lone run of the inning for Bowie State and get them on the board.

The Lady Vikings expanded their lead to 9-1 before the Bulldogs offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fourth. The Bowie State offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run error off the bat of Alexander, which brought the score to 9-5 in favor of the Vikings.

Elizabeth City State expanded their lead to 12-5 before the BSU offense got going, reducing that lead to 12-6 in the seventh. The ballgame ended with that seventh inning rally falling short.
