NEW ORLEANS, LA - Bowie State Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations Dr. Jolisa Williams recently wrapped up her participation in the NCAA's Dr. Charles Whitcomb Leadership Institute.
The Dr. Charles Whitcomb Leadership Institute provides tailored programming to assist ethnic minorities in strategically mapping and planning their careers in athletic administration by providing professional development programming.
Dr. Williams was accepted into the program back in 2022, and participated in person for Year 1 in Dallas. The program concluded Thursday in New Orleans.

"Being selected to participate in the Dr. Charles Whitcomb Leadership Institute has been a very rewarding yet a transformational experience for me," Dr. Williams said. "This opportunity allowed me to really dig deep in thinking about how I want to show up, be authentic, understanding what my core values are as well as telling my story. There were challenges but they were important challenges to help me grow, and be a better version of myself. I would recommend this program for any minority looking to enhance their skill sets in becoming a better administrator in collegiate athletics. I am truly grateful for this opportunity, the NCAA, the facilitators and interns for pouring into me."
During the program, Dr. Williams and the rest of the participants heard from numerous special guests throughout collegiate athletics, including Conference Commissioners, Athletic Directors, search firms and Leadership Institute alums. Dr. Williams was also afforded the opportunity to visit the Tulane University Athletics earlier in the week.
