BOWIE, MD --The Bowie State volleyball team fell to the visiting Virginia State Trojans in four sets (17-25, 16-25, 25-20, 10-25) Monday night inside A.C. Jordan Arena.

The loss dropped Bowie State's record to 2-12 overall and 0-1 in CIAA action while the Trojans improve to 2-7 overall and 1-0 in the league.

Madyson Brinson finished with 11 kills on the day to lead the Bulldogs attack while Tristynn Kerr finished with 10 digs to lead them defensively.

Game Notes

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Bulldogs found themselves in an early deficit, losing a tough first set 25-17. BSU trailed by as many as 11 points as Virginia State never surrendered the lead in a set that was tied up zero times before the Trojans took control.

SET 2 | Bowie State lost set two 25-16, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. The Bulldogs fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before dropping the set.

SET 3 | BSU fought back to pull within two sets to one, winning their first set of the match in the third stanza. The Bulldogs the set set three 25-20. Bowie State took the lead for good at 15-14 in a set that featured eight ties and six lead changes.

SET 4 | Bowie State couldn't keep the momentum and fell in the fourth set 25-10 to drop the match. The Bulldogs dropped the first point and never clawed back into the lead before losing the set.

Up Next
Bowie State will take on members from the CIAA Southern Division in the first of two CIAA Round-Ups. The first round-up will take place at Virginia State where the Bulldogs will face Winston-Salem State and Livingstone on Sept. 30 at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., followed by a match with Johnson C. Smith and Shaw on Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in Ettrick, Va.
