BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State men's basketball team dropped a 69-40 decision to the Virginia State Trojans (10-11, 5-6 CIAA, 2-2 North) at home Wednesday night inside A.C. Jordan Arena in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Northern Division contest.
Amare Wimbush led the Bulldogs (7-15, 2-9 CIAA, 1-3 North) with four points and two steals. Joel Webb tacked on eight points and two steals and Warren Mouganda chipped in as well with eight points off of the bench.
How It Happened
Bowie State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 35-19 heading into halftime.
VSU kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 60-31 advantage before BSU went on an 8-0 run, finished off by Mouganda's three, to shrink the deficit to 60-39 with 2:22 to go in the contest. Virginia State responded and outscored the Bulldogs the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 69-40.
