Bulldogs Drop 3-Set Sweep to Elizabeth City State

ELIZABETH CITY, NC --The Bowie State women's volleyball team fell to Central Intercollegiate Atheltic Association (CIAA) foe the Elizabeth City State Vikings (8-11,6-1 CIAA) in three sets (15-25, 17-25, 25-27) Thursday evening on the road at R.L Vaughan Center.

The loss dropped BSU record to (5-15) overall and 2-6 in CIAA action, while ECSU improves to 8-11 overall and 6-1 in the conference. 

Nicole Taylor lead the charge with nine kills offensively along with a season-high four blocks on the day. Defensively, Taylor Johnson recorded 11 kills. 

Game Notes
» Johnson had a team-high one ace in the loss.
» Taylor had a match-high nine kills for Bowie State.
» Bowie State got a team-high 11 digs from Johnson.
» Bowie State attackers were helped by a team-high six assists from Haley Pelham.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Bulldogs found themselves in an early hole, dropping a tough first set 25-15. Bowie State trailed by as many as 10 points as Elizabeth City State never gave up the lead in a set that was notted up zero times before the Vikings took control.

SET 2 | A 25-17 second-set loss put Bowie State behind 2-0 in the match. The Bulldogs dropped set two despite a solid performance on the attacking end. Bowie State put together a .306 attack percentage with 13 kills in the set loss.

SET 3 | Bowie State couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Bulldogs couldn't survive a furious Elizabeth City State rally, losing 27-25 after leading by seven points at 7-0 earlier in the set.
