MILLERSVILLE, PA --The Bowie State women's volleyball team jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but couldn't hold on and lost in three-sets 3-1 (25-22, 11-25, 12-25, 9-25) to the Millersville (PA) Marauders (12-11)Â Tuesday on the road at Pucillo Gymnasium.
The non-conference loss dropped BSU record to (8-17) overall, while MU improves to 12-11 on the season.Â
Nina Edwards finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Bulldogs attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .313. To add on, Mekenna Scott finished with a season-high eight digs and defensively Nadira Avery lead with a season-high seven blocks.

SET 1 | The Bulldogs survived a furious Millersville (PA) rally in the first set, hanging on to win 25-22 after leading by eight points at 42-34 earlier in the set. Bowie State also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked five Millersville (PA) attacks in the stanza.
SET 2 | Bowie State fell in set two 25-11 to tie the match 1-1. The Bulldogs lost the first point and never clawed back into the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | A third-set loss put Bowie State behind two sets to one. The Bulldogs fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before falling in the set 25-12.
SET 4 | Bowie State lost set four and the match, falling 25-9. The Bulldogs lost the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before falling in the set.
