WINSTON-SALEM, NC --The Bowie State women's volleyball team fell to the defending CIAA champions the Shaw Lady Bears 3-1 (18-25,27-25,14-25,22-25) Sunday morning at Whitaker Gymnasium to conclude the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up. The Bulldogs fall to 1-4 in CIAA play and 4-13 overall on the season.Â
Madyson Brinson finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Bulldogs offense while Shaska Davis led the charge defensively with 12 digs.

» Haley Pelham had a team-high one ace in the loss.
» Brinson had a team-high eight kills for BSU.
» Bowie State got a team-high 12 digs from Davis.
» The Bulldogs attackers were helped by a team-high 19 assists from Trinity Loundmon.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Bulldogs lost set one 25-18 despite a strong performance on the attacking end. Bowie State registered a .364 attack percentage with nine kills in the set loss.
SET 2 | BSU responded to pick up a 27-25 victory in set two, evening the match at one set apiece. The Bulldogs came out on top of a close second set, winning in a stanza that was tied 12 times and had four lead changes. Bowie State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Shaw attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | Bowie State lost set three, putting the Bulldogs in a 2-1 deficit. The Bulldogs lost a tough set 25-14. BSUÂ trailed by as many as 13 points as Shaw grabbed the advantage for good at 7-6 in a set that was tied up seven times before the Lady Bears took over the lead.
SET 4 | BSU then lost the fourth set 25-22 to finish off the match. Shaw grabbed the advantage for good at 18-17 and the Bulldogs was never able to recover in a set that was tied up nine times before the Lady Bears took over in the second half of the stanza.
