BOWIE, MD --- The Bowie State women's volleyball team will compete in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Volleyball Quarterfinal as the Bulldogs travel to Raleigh, N.C. to take on the No. 1 seed Shaw University Lady Bears in a Quarterfinal's rematch on Tuesday, Nov. 19 inside the C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. The first serve slated for 6 p.m.

The Series
Tuesday's match-up will be just the 21st time the two programs will meet since 2008, as the Lady Bears own a 15-5 record over the Bulldogs.In the pervious meeting, Shaw captured a 3-1 win (25-18,25-27,25-14,25-22) over BSU during the CIAA Round-Up inside the Whitaker Gymnasium Oct. 6. The Bulldogs have dropped their last 12 matchups against the Lady Bears but aim to upset the No. 1 seed and advance to the CIAA Semifinals, respectively.

In the season finale, Bowie State (10-19, 7-9 CIAA) lost it's last outing on the road falling to CIAA foe the Virginia State University Trojans (15-7,13-3 CIAA) in four-set match 3-1 (25-15,17-25, 21-25, 26-28). The Bulldogs were led by
Iman Wright who finished with a double-double, season-high 17 kills and 10 digs, while
Jaide Holliday recorded a season-high four aces. Defensively,
Taylor Johnson tacked in 20 digs and
Nadira Avery had three blocks in the loss.

Nina Edwards who leads the team in kills (182) and blocks (69). In the conference, Edwards ranks second with a hitting percentage of .360 and fourth in blocks with 0.91 per game. Freshman standout Johnson leads the team in digs (363) and aces (28), while setter
Trinity Loundmon is the team's leading passer with 344 assists. As a team Bowie State averages, a hitting percentage of .132, 10.2 kills per set, 9.2 assist per set, 14 digs per set, and 2.0 blocks per game.
A Look at the Bears
The leagues reigning champion, the Shaw Lady Bears enters Tuesday's CIAA Quarterfinal's No.1 seed with a 23-4 overall record and 15-1 CIAA action. The Lady Bears won it's last outing sweeping Lyon College (Ark.) 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-19) Nov. 9. Amari Earl led the Lady Bears with 12 kills, while Cripa Manuela Nasser recorded 33 assists. On the defensive end, Kalia Morris finished with 12 digs and Kamille Patrick contributed with six blocks in the win. Earl leads the team in kills (288) while Nasser is the team-leading passer with 1072 assists, followed by Morris with 443 digs. Maelie Chupin controls with 63 aces and Patrick has 74 blocks. Shaw leads the conference in the following: hitting percentage (.258), assists (11.76), kills (12.86), and aces (2.77).
