Bowie State Dominate in Road Finale Against Elizabeth City State, 48-6

ELIZABETH CITY, NC -- The Bowie State Bulldogs used an explosive 262-yard performance on the ground, including 171 yards from Micah Robinson and six rushing touchdowns, to pick up a 48-6 win against the Elizabeth City State Vikings Saturday afternoon on the road at Roebuck Stadium.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-6 on the year and 3-4 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association play, while the Vikings fell to 2-7 and 0-6.

Robinson paced the Bulldogs rushing attack by accumulating 171 yards and four touchdowns throughout the game, averaging 7.8 yards per carry. Maximus Jones also added 59 yards and one touchdown on the ground, averaging 8.4 yards per carry.

Joseph Towler reeled in one catch for 51 yards.

Hasan Mosley showcased the Bulldogs' explosive defense, returning an interception 100 yards for a touchdown. Caleb Taylor anchored BSU's defensive line with four tackles, 2.0 TFL, and one recovered fumble, and Alijah Miller had 1.5 TFL and 1.5 sacks in the win.

The Bulldogs won the turnover battle in Saturday's game, forcing two turnovers while coughing the ball up one time, with BSU turning those takeaways into seven points. Bowie State recorded a big outing on the ground, racking up 262 rushing yards while averaging 6.2 yards per carry and out-rushing Elizabeth City State by 177 yards.

Defensively, Bowie State did an excellent job neutralizing the Elizabeth City State offensive attack, holding the Vikings to 165 total yards. The Bulldogs kept the Vikings under 100 yards on both the ground and through the air, allowing just 80 passing and 85 rushing yards. The BSU defense took up residence in ECSU's backfield all game, collecting five sacks and eight total tackles for loss.

Bowie State's offense took advantage of its visits to the red zone, scoring on four of its five trips, with all of those scores being touchdowns.

How It Happened

Bowie State got on the scoreboard first and opened a 7-0 lead with 11:46 left in the first quarter. Another Bulldogs score then extended the lead to 14-0.

BSU kept ECSU off the scoreboard and increased its lead to 21-0 with 1:05 remaining in the first quarter. The Bulldogs continued to increase their lead, scoring again to go on top 28-0.

Bowie State continued to expand its advantage, scoring again with 1:02 left in the third quarter to go on top 42-0. The Vikings then rallied, tallying six points before the Bulldogs responded with a touchdown to extend their lead to 48-6. Neither team scored again to end the game.
